This article is a continuation of my previous post i.e. Enabling Portal for Dynamics365. In this article, I will be talking about different type of Portal Audience options we find while enabling Portal.
There are 3 different types of Audience a Portal can target to. 1. Partner, 2 Customer and 3. Employee. Under each of these there few more types we can choose.
Each type enables us to have certain features. Below table details what features a user can get based on selection.

You might have observed, Employee type portal work against Azure AD rest all are works with forms authentication and are maintained as contacts in the system where login is required, can be easily manageable from CRM.
This doesn’t require any developer intervention, instead can be managed completely by business by changing records in Dynamics CRM.
